Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Maricopa County in Arizona, where Phoenix is located, has implemented public health strategies to combat extreme heat that experts suggest could serve as a model for other regions. These initiatives include the creation of the world's first extreme heat director position in 2021 and the provision of free air conditioning units or repairs for eligible residents. The county also operates cooling centers, some of which run 24 hours a day to provide shelter for homeless individuals and vulnerable populations such as the elderly and children.

Data indicates a decrease in heat related deaths in the county, dropping from a peak of 645 in 2023 to 405 in 2025. However, the long term impact remains uncertain. As of July 11 of this year, the county recorded 23 heat related deaths, with another 282 cases under investigation that could potentially push the total above previous years.

These measures come amid a global trend of rising temperatures. France estimated over 2,000 deaths from a June heatwave, while England and Wales estimated over 2,700 deaths since May. In the United States, at least 44 heat associated deaths occurred over the July 4th holiday weekend. Brazil has also experienced extreme heat, with the National Institute of Meteorology issuing red alerts for the Center South region in late 2025. Jennifer Marlon, a Yale University researcher, noted that modern heat is more intense because nighttime temperatures often fail to drop, preventing the human body from recovering.
