Migrants clashed with police at a detention center in Sintiki, northern Greece, on Sunday. During the incident, 35 individuals escaped the premises by cutting through a perimeter fence. Police reported that migrants threw rocks at officers, leading authorities to deploy flashbang grenades. The clashes continued into the early hours of Sunday morning.
At least five migrants were injured and transported to the hospital. Police recaptured 17 of the escapees, while 18 others remain missing. The temporary accommodation center, located a few kilometers from the Bulgarian border, currently houses approximately 450 people awaiting the processing of their asylum applications.
