Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

Moroccan King Mohammed VI has named a 1,055km highway after US President Donald Trump to express his deep appreciation for the American leader. The expressway, which costs US$1 billion and runs between Tiznit and the city of Dakhla, crosses into the disputed Western Sahara. In a letter dated July 2, the king stated that the naming is a personal expression of friendship and peace. He specifically cited Trump's 2020 recognition of Moroccan rule over the Western Sahara as a historic action that gave unprecedented momentum to bilateral relations. The Western Sahara is a resource rich territory that has been disputed by Morocco and an Algerian backed independence movement since Spain withdrew in 1975. The UN designates the region as a non self governing territory. Trump's recognition of Moroccan sovereignty occurred near the end of his first term as part of a deal involving the re establishment of ties between Morocco and Israel.
