Fabiane Grando Brotto, a 41 year old teacher, died this Saturday after nearly five months of hospitalization. She had been receiving treatment at the Hospital Universitário de Cascavel following a grave accident on April 22 on the BR-277 highway in Céu Azul, Paraná. Her daughter, 6 year old Bianca Grando Brotto, died at the scene of the crash.
According to reports, the vehicle carrying Fabiane and Bianca was hit laterally by a truck while crossing the highway. The Federal Highway Police reported that the car was dragged for 86 meters. The girl's father and brother were traveling in a separate vehicle behind them and witnessed the accident. The family had been traveling from Matelândia to a restaurant in Céu Azul before planning to return to their home in Toledo.
Fabiane was the daughter of Luiz Grando, a former mayor of Pato Bragado, and she leaves behind a husband and a son. Her employer, Colégio La Salle Toledo, issued a note of condolence following her death.
