At least five people have died and eight others are missing following a series of natural disasters and a road accident in Arunachal Pradesh between August 13 and August 15, 2026. In the Dibang Valley district, a flash flood struck the Pasu Pani Army camp on Friday afternoon, washing away structures and leaving five soldiers missing. The missing personnel are identified as Havaldar Upendar and soldiers Kundan, Vinod, Aditya, and Samunda. Rescue operations involving the Army, ITBP, GREF, and SDRF are ongoing.
In a separate incident in the Upper Subansiri district, a landslide at the Keojaring-Byaching road construction site on Friday afternoon buried four workers. The deceased have been identified as Tadu Baki, Taji Rai, Markosh Basumatari, and Babul Ali. Only the body of Babul Ali has been recovered so far.
Additionally, a light commercial vehicle carrying 10 people plunged approximately 300 feet into the Lohit river in the Anjaw district on Thursday morning. Six people were rescued, one woman was confirmed dead, and three people remain missing. Search efforts continue with the assistance of the NDRF and local volunteers.
