These media entities allow candidates to engage in long form policy discussions and reach younger audiences, with The Majority Report reporting that roughly 75 percent of its listeners are under age 55.

New media entrepreneurs, including former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan, argue that they are filling a void in mainstream coverage by providing platforms for underrepresented views such as universal healthcare and the abolition of ICE. While this ecosystem provides a sympathetic space for candidates to sharpen their messages, some analysts suggest it risks deepening fissures within the Democratic Party and alienating moderate voters.
