- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Nvidia reported second quarter revenue of 96.2 billion dollars, more than double the amount from the same period last year. The company's net profit rose 126 percent to 59.7 billion dollars, with earnings per share reaching 2.22 dollars. These figures exceeded Wall Street expectations, which had projected revenue of approximately 92 billion dollars. The growth was primarily driven by the data center division, which generated 89 billion dollars in revenue, an increase of 117 percent year over year.
CEO Jensen Huang stated that artificial intelligence has reached its inflection point and described the current era as a golden age for AI startups and laboratories. Looking forward, Nvidia forecast revenue of 108 billion dollars for the current quarter and projected a 70 percent increase in revenue for the next fiscal year. The company also announced an expanded partnership with Amazon Web Services to deploy an additional 2 million graphics processing units across its infrastructure.
Despite the record results, Nvidia's stock experienced an initial dip before rising nearly 5 percent in after hours trading. The company noted that growth is currently limited by supply constraints, specifically a shortage of memory components, rather than a lack of demand. CFO Colette Kress warned that these costs could pressure gross margins, which may decline from 75 percent to around 71 percent by early next year.
Outlets with a center left lean highlighted investor skepticism regarding the sustainability of this growth and the potential for an AI bubble. They specifically noted concerns over circular financing, where Nvidia invests in startups that then use the funds to buy Nvidia products. Outlets with a center right lean focused more on the company's dominance as the world's most valuable firm and the specific technical growth of its data center and edge computing lines. Center outlets generally framed the results as a bellwether for the broader AI industry, emphasizing the massive scale of infrastructure spending by tech giants like Microsoft, Meta, and Google.
