Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Every outlet covering this story shares the same political lean; read with that in mind.
The far right One Nation party has won a special election for a lower house seat in the state parliament of Western Australia. Candidate Luke Herdegen defeated the ruling Labor Party to secure the seat. According to the state electoral commission late Saturday in Perth, Herdegen held 57 percent of the vote while the Labor candidate had 43 percent with 75 percent of votes counted. Broadcaster ABC called the by election for Herdegen. The result follows a period where the party surged in the polls over the past year.
