Operation Luxúria blocks R$ 8.1 million in assets linked to criminal faction

The Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Sul (MPRS) launched Operation Luxúria on Thursday to dismantle a money laundering scheme linked to a criminal faction from Rio Grande do Sul. The operation resulted in the blocking of approximately R$ 8.1 million in assets and values. Seized assets include a mansion valued at R$ 2.95 million in a high end condominium, two armored vehicles, and a luxury store selling clothing and jewelry in an upscale neighborhood of Porto Alegre.

Authorities executed 17 search and seizure warrants across three states: Rio Grande do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, and Mato Grosso do Sul, specifically in Campo Grande and Porto Murtinho. The action was led by the 6th Specialized Criminal Prosecution Office of Porto Alegre with support from the Brigada Militar and the Organized Crime Repression Special Action Groups (GAECO) in the respective states.

Investigators state that the group used family members, companies, and straw buyers to hide the origin and ownership of illicit funds. The MPRS identified financial movements that were incompatible with the declared income of the targets. So far, seven individuals linked to a family and business core have been identified, along with companies suspected of helping to conceal assets. The investigation remains ongoing to track further assets and identify additional participants.
