PGR Supports Lifting Secrecy on Banco Master Payment Data Ahead of STF Vote

The Office of the Prosecutor General (PGR) has agreed with a request by Justice Alexandre de Moraes to lift the secrecy of a legal process involving payments made by banker Daniel Vorcaro and the Banco Master. Vice Prosecutor General Hindenburgo Chateaubriand Filho stated that the documents are relevant for the justices of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to understand the full scope of the factors involved in the case. The request was directed to STF President Edson Fachin. The PGR noted that the specific process, Pet 15645, was not visible in its system, which is why it was not included in a previous request to lift secrecy on related files.

Justice Moraes argued that the data is essential for a plenary session scheduled for Tuesday, where the court will decide whether to authorize an investigation into him regarding messages exchanged with Vorcaro. Justice Andre Mendonca, who previously served as the relator for the Master case, had not made this portion of the investigation public. Mendonca has argued that providing the raw data from Vorcaro's phone could jeopardize ongoing investigations and that the necessary information for the judgment is already contained in the reports.

Parallel to the secrecy dispute, Justice Cristiano Zanin ordered the Federal Police to provide his office with a full copy of the data from Vorcaro's phone. While the Federal Police complied, Justice Mendonca claimed this could tumult the judgment. Meanwhile, the defense for Daniel Vorcaro has requested that the court filter the released information to protect personal data and private communications, citing previous leaks of messages between the banker and his partner.
