More than 70,000 pints of Guinness, valued at approximately £115,000, were stolen from an industrial estate in Runcorn on Monday. The theft occurred at a Diageo packaging warehouse located on the Whitehouse Industrial Estate on Aston Lane. According to the Cheshire Constabulary, thieves used two HGV trailers to remove around 800 barrels of stout intended for delivery to pubs.
Police report that the first lorry connected to a trailer and left the site at about 7.55pm toward the Mersey Gateway bridge. A second lorry arrived at 9.12pm and departed at 9.30pm toward Rainhill and Watkinson Way. Both drivers are believed to be men. The first is described as white with a short dark beard wearing a beanie hat, while the second was believed to be wearing a cap.
The stolen items include two white tri axle curtain side trailers with GXO branding and ID numbers DL736 and DL542. When including the value of the trailers, the total loss is estimated at £205,000. Detective Sergeant McClatchy stated that police are seeking a full recovery of the items and are urging witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage from the Aston Lane area to contact authorities using incident reference number IML-2408641.
