Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Every source for this story reports from South Korea.

South Korean police will disclose the name, age, and photograph of a 31 year old Chinese university lecturer surnamed Jeong who is accused of murdering a 25 year old Chinese graduate student. A deliberation committee decided to publish the suspect's personal details on the Gyeongbuk police agency website for 30 days until September 30. The committee cited the brutality of the crime, the gravity of the harm, and future crime prevention as reasons for the disclosure.

Jeong is accused of killing the student at his home in Gyeongsan on August 20. He allegedly mutilated her body and abandoned the remains in multiple locations, including Gunpo and Gyeongju. Police recovered additional remains over the weekend and are continuing searches in Gyeonggi and North Gyeongsang provinces based on location records and statements from the suspect.

Authorities also charged Jeong with obstructing the investigation. He allegedly filed a false missing person report while posing as the victim's boyfriend. Surveillance footage showed him wearing women's clothing while carrying the victim's phone to Dongdaegu Station, where he reportedly turned the device off before changing clothes in a restroom.
