Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

Every source for this story reports from South Korea.

South Korean steelmaker POSCO announced on Tuesday that it will invest 480 billion won, approximately 357 to 359 million US dollars, to build a new automotive steel plant. The facility, which is scheduled for completion by 2028, will be the eighth continuous galvanizing line (8CGL) at the company's integrated steel mill in Gwangyang. The new line will have an annual production capacity of 450,000 tons of hot-dip galvanized steel for automotive outer panels, increasing POSCO's total annual capacity for the product to 4.95 million tons.

POSCO President Lee Hee-geun stated that the investment is a strategic move to strengthen future competitiveness and technological prowess within a rapidly changing global steel ecosystem. The company noted that the demand for high-end and larger vehicles has increased orders for galvanized steel, which is valued for its corrosion resistance and surface quality.

Reports from a center-right perspective emphasize the company's broader strategic vision, highlighting the integration of artificial intelligence and robotics to minimize defects and support workers in hazardous tasks. This framing also links the project to Chairman Chang In-hwa's goals for low-carbon steelmaking and the production of next-generation mobility materials such as Giga Steel and Hyper NO. In contrast, center-leaning reports focus primarily on the financial investment, production capacity figures, and the general purpose of the facility.
