President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating has fallen to 40.2 percent, marking a new low and the sixth consecutive week of decline. According to a Realmeter poll of 2,026 voters conducted from August 18 to 21, the rating dropped 2.8 percentage points from the previous week. The survey found that 56.9 percent of respondents gave a negative assessment of the president's job performance, an increase of 2.8 percentage points.

Realmeter attributed the decline to security concerns following scaled back military drills between South Korea and the United States, as well as growing distrust over government housing policies. The pollster noted that support declined specifically among conservative voters and individuals aged 70 and older.
