President Milei to Address Nation on Malvinas Following Trump Remarks

President Javier Milei will deliver a national broadcast on Thursday at 9 p.m. to discuss the Malvinas sovereignty claim. The announcement follows recent comments from Donald Trump, who stated that his administration is reviewing the position of the United States regarding the dispute between Argentina and the United Kingdom. Presidential spokesperson Adrián Ravier confirmed that the government considers the sovereignty claim a priority and noted that the message is being prepared by Milei, Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno, and the State Intelligence Secretariat (SIDE). While the government speaks of diplomatic progress, Ravier declined to provide specific details about the content of the upcoming speech or the exact nature of the SIDE's involvement.

During a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the government also discussed the state of the national economy. Ravier explicitly denied the existence of an economic crisis, citing INDEC data from the first quarter of 2026 showing 22.9 million jobs, which is an increase of 510,000 compared to the same period in 2023. He asserted that inflation, poverty, and indigence are decreasing while exports and production are improving. However, reports indicate that the government's optimistic reading of the economy focused on favorable indicators and did not address signals of fragility in employment and income within the real economy.
