Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Every outlet covering this story shares the same political lean; read with that in mind.
President Volodymyr Zelensky imposed sanctions on his former press secretary, Iuliia Mendel, on September 13. According to a presidential decree, the sanctions include the freezing of her assets, a ban on moving capital out of Ukraine, and the stripping of her state awards. Mendel has become a vocal critic of Zelensky, describing him as a dictator and the greatest obstacle to peace in Ukraine. She previously appeared on a podcast hosted by Tucker Carlson in May to criticize the president. Mendel stated that she was invited to speak at a sideline event by Germany's far right AfD party, a group that has criticized financial support for Ukrainian refugees and military aid to the country. Mendel responded to the sanctions on X, calling the decision unconstitutional and claiming that Zelensky uses such measures against those advocating for peace. She further alleged that charges of high treason were being prepared against her.
