Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a four day visit to Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic starting August 29. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Modi will visit Uzbekistan from August 29 to 30 for a state visit to Tashkent. During this time, he will hold delegation level talks with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to discuss trade, investment, defence, digital connectivity, energy, and education. The leaders will also discuss the developmental visions of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Uzbekistan 2030. Modi is expected to visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre during his stay in Tashkent.
Following the Uzbekistan visit, Modi will travel to Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, to participate in the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit from August 31 to September 1. On the sidelines of the summit, Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two leaders are expected to review the bilateral relationship and discuss regional and global issues. This meeting follows a recent visit to Moscow by Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, during which President Putin assured India of continued supplies of energy and fertilisers amid disruptions caused by the West Asia conflict.
