Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Every outlet covering this story shares the same political lean; read with that in mind.
The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) held protests and rallies across Pakistan on Wednesday to mark the third anniversary of the imprisonment of party founder Imran Khan. During a large gathering in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi warned that the party would march on Islamabad on September 27 if the cases of Mr. Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, are not heard on merit and restrictions on their meetings with lawyers and family are not lifted. Mr. Afridi also criticized the federal government and institutions for a resurgence of terrorism in the province.
Clashes between protesters and law enforcement occurred in several cities. In Karachi, PTI supporters held a demonstration near the Press Club that led to severe traffic congestion. Police used tear gas and baton charges to disperse the crowd, resulting in the detention of more than ten workers. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar issued orders to restore traffic flow in the affected areas. In Lahore, police baton charged workers and journalists, arresting one MNA, four MPAs, and several party workers. Reports also indicated that police fired tear gas at supporters in Rawalpindi.
The PTI stated that demonstrations were held in various districts including Faisalabad, Multan, and several parts of Sindh. Party leaders condemned the police actions as an unlawful use of force against peaceful demonstrators. Conversely, police officials stated that force was used to clear roads and restore traffic flow.
