Retired Police Officer Wounded in Shooting Outside El Palomar School

A 51 year old retired police officer was wounded in a shooting on Thursday morning in front of Colegio Emaus in El Palomar, Morón. The incident occurred around 7:15 AM as parents were dropping off their children. Three suspects arrived in a Volkswagen Amarok and attempted to rob parents; the situation escalated when the victim, a retired comisario mayor of the Bonaerense Police, identified himself as a member of the force. The suspects opened fire, striking the man in the abdomen before fleeing the scene without completing the robbery.

The victim was transported to Hospital Posadas. While one report noted he was admitted to intensive care, other reports stated he was out of danger and subsequently discharged. The suspects remain at large. Damián Cardoso, the Secretary of Security for Morón, stated that an intensive search is underway in areas including Fuerte Apache and Carlos Gardel. He suggested that the suspects might be minors, noting that gangs often use minors to exploit their legal status as non laudable offenders.

Witnesses described a scene of panic, with some parents assisting the victim's daughter during the shootout. It was also noted that the children of Morón Mayor Lucas Ghi attend the school. Local residents expressed concern over a recurring wave of insecurity in the neighborhood, claiming that both teachers and parents have been victims of previous robberies.
