Richard Ríos Set for Loan Move from Benfica to Al-Ittihad

Benfica has reached an agreement with the Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad for the loan of Colombian midfielder Richard Ríos. The deal is for a single season and does not include an option to buy. Under the terms of the agreement, Benfica is expected to receive between 3 million and 4 million euros, while Al-Ittihad will be responsible for the full payment of the player's salary. The 26 year old midfielder joined Benfica from Palmeiras last season for 27 million euros, making him the most expensive signing in the history of the Portuguese club. During his tenure at Benfica, Ríos appeared in 51 official matches, recording eight goals and six assists.

Reports indicate that the move was accelerated because Ríos is not considered a primary option for coach Marco Silva and faces competition from the arrival of Joao Palhinha. While other clubs including Besiktas, Hull City, Bournemouth, and Roma were linked to the player, he is expected to accept the transfer to Saudi Arabia. Ríos was absent from Benfica's match against Estoril on August 31, which sources suggest was due to the advanced state of the negotiations.
