At least 14 people were killed on both sides of the conflict during a series of intensified long range strikes on Sunday. Ukrainian drone attacks killed between eight and nine people across several Russian regions, while Russian strikes killed at least five people in Ukraine, including victims in Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv. Russia's Defence Ministry claimed to have intercepted 635 Ukrainian drones during the night. Ukrainian forces targeted the Engels airbase and a major oil refinery in the Saratov region, as well as an oil depot in the Kaluga region. In the Samara region, drones struck a warehouse belonging to Wildberries, Russia's largest online retailer. Regional officials reported that the Wildberries site was hit without casualties, though it is part of a broader campaign targeting the company's logistics hubs. Other Russian casualties occurred in the Udmurtia region, where three people were killed, and the Belgorod region, where a strike near a playground killed a 13 year old girl. In Ukraine, Russian guided bombs and missiles struck residential areas and a postal terminal, causing multiple deaths and injuries. President Volodymyr Zelensky described the strikes on Russian facilities as long range sanctions against assets that finance the war. Russian officials characterized the attacks on civilian and commercial infrastructure as terrorist acts. Both nations have increased their focus on energy facilities, warehouses, and major cities as the front line remains static.
