Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

Russia's Pacific Fleet conducted a missile test off a group of Russian held, Japanese claimed islands on Thursday. The exercise follows President Vladimir Putin's first ever visit to the area last week, which triggered an intensifying row over the disputed territory. The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Japanese Ambassador to Russia Akira Muto following Japan's protest against the visit. According to reports from a center right outlet, the test involved the Bastion surface to ship missile system, the guided missile cruiser Varyag, and the Omsk nuclear powered submarine. The exercise simulated an attack on enemy vessels and reportedly hit all intended targets at a range of at least 300 kilometers. Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi described Moscow's military buildup on the islands as unacceptable. Center leaning sources characterized the missile test as rare.
