- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Every outlet covering this story shares the same political lean; read with that in mind.
Russian attacks killed at least eight people and injured 50 others across Ukraine over the past day, according to local authorities on August 13. In Odesa Oblast, a Russian jet powered attack drone hit a passenger train, killing the driver and his assistant. Ukrainian Railways CEO Oleksandr Pertsovskyi stated that the train was entering a station to evacuate passengers after a drone threat was detected, though no passengers were injured. Russian forces launched 133 Shahed type drones overnight, with Ukrainian air defenses intercepting 111 of them. Casualties were reported in several regions: three people died and 19 were injured in Kherson Oblast, two died and six were injured in Donetsk Oblast, one person died and four were injured in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and injuries were reported in Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Dnipropetrovsk Oblasts. While one report focuses on the specific casualties and the scale of the drone strikes, another report frames the attacks in Odesa as a means of choking off an export lifeline for the port city.
