Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

A Russian drone struck the central headquarters of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in Kyiv on Friday, September 4. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the attack specifically targeted the office of the acting head of the SBU, Oleksandr Poklad. While the SBU confirmed the office was the target, they reported that Poklad was not harmed. Reports on casualties vary, with Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stating nine people were injured, while the Kyiv City Military Administration reported at least twelve injuries.

The strike occurred in the Shevchenkivskyi district on Volodymyrska Street, opposite the St. Sophia Cathedral. The explosion damaged the building's exterior wall and shattered windows in nearby structures, including those within the St. Sophia Cathedral and Related Monuments National Sanctuary. Witnesses described a loud explosion and plumes of black smoke rising from the heart of the city.

President Zelenskyy has instructed the SBU to deliver an appropriate and tangible response to the attack. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha described the incident as a major escalation. The strike took place amid a broader context of daily drone and missile attacks and occurred shortly before a scheduled visit to Kyiv by US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Ukraine has also faced a critical shortage of Patriot interceptors to defend against new, high speed jet powered drones.
