At least 37 people were killed and 42 others injured, including four children, after a Russian drone strike hit a munitions warehouse in the village of Myla, located in the Bucha district near Kyiv. The attack occurred late Friday night and triggered a series of large explosions and fires that damaged at least 50 residential buildings, including a care home for the elderly and disabled. Ukrainian authorities reported that nearly 400 people were evacuated from the area. Among the dead was Taras Didych, the head of the Dmytrivka community, who died while assisting rescue efforts.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the facility stored shells, mines, and drones, and he emphasized that the storage site should not have been located near residential areas. He announced that criminal proceedings have been opened on charges of official negligence. Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi added that the incident mirrored a previous deadly strike in Vyshneve in July, calling the repetition of such mistakes criminal negligence. Russia's Ministry of Defence claimed the target was an ammunition depot holding components and launch boosters for long range unmanned aerial vehicles.
The strike was part of a broader wave of Russian aerial assaults. Ukrainian officials reported that 233 Russian drones were shot down overnight. Other casualties were reported across Ukraine, including a two year old girl killed in Kyiv's Obolonskyi district and a 14 year old girl killed in the Boryspil district. In Russia, local officials reported that Ukrainian drone strikes killed at least three people in the Belgorod region and one person in Sevastopol. Ukrainian forces also targeted Russian drone sites and command posts in occupied Donetsk and Crimea, as well as logistics centers belonging to the retailer Ozon in Russia.
