- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Russian drone strikes on a major shopping center in Kryvyi Rih, central Ukraine, killed at least 16 people and injured 130 others, including 23 children, on Friday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and local officials reported that the attack occurred in two waves, with a second strike hitting the site approximately 30 minutes after the first while emergency responders were already on the scene. This tactic, referred to as a double tap, was described by Zelenskyy as a cynical act of barbarism and a terrorist act. Rescue operations continued into Saturday as teams searched for nine people reported missing among the rubble of the Sunny Gallery complex.
In response to the strikes, French President Emmanuel Macron spoke with President Zelenskyy and announced that France would accelerate the delivery of interceptor missiles and other equipment to strengthen Ukraine's air defenses. Zelenskyy has repeatedly called on Western allies to increase pressure on Moscow and provide more Patriot missile systems to intercept ballistic threats.
The violence extended beyond Kryvyi Rih. Russian strikes on Friday and Saturday caused further casualties in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and the Kherson region. Simultaneously, Ukraine conducted long range strikes within Russia, targeting an oil refinery and a logistics center belonging to the e-commerce giant Ozon in the Samara region. In southern Russia's Krasnodar region, officials reported that a Ukrainian drone strike on a house killed two children.
Outlets with a center-right lean emphasized the tactical cruelty of the double tap and the specific casualty counts among children. Center-left outlets highlighted the broader pattern of Russian aggression against civilians and the strategic nature of Ukrainian counter strikes on Russian logistics. Center outlets focused on the diplomatic response from France and the general escalation of the air war.
