Samajwadi Party Student Wing Adopts Blue Dress Code

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav announced on Tuesday that the party's student wing has adopted a new dress code consisting of blue T-shirts and jeans. This new attire replaces the red shirts or kurtas previously worn by Chhatra Sabha workers. Mr. Yadav stated that the new uniform reflects the thinking of the new generation and provides a unique identity that represents socialist values and the Bahujan Samaj. The announcement coincided with the launch of a two week student awareness campaign designed to connect with youth in colleges, universities, and hostels. This outreach is part of the PDA movement, an acronym coined by Mr. Yadav in 2023 standing for Pichhde (backward classes), Dalits, and Alpsankhyak (minorities). SP spokesperson Sunil Singh Yadav Sajan added that the blue color signifies equality and a commitment to reaching marginalized sections of society facing oppression from forces supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party. The move comes ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections scheduled for 2027. While a center leaning source focused on decoding the new uniform, a center left leaning source framed the change as a strategic push to advance the party's Bahujan plank.
