Security camera footage has emerged showing medical staff protecting a patient during a magnitude 6.8 earthquake at Kumamoto General Hospital in Japan. The quake occurred on 28 July while four surgeries were in progress. In one operating room where an abdominal surgery was being performed, staff shielded the patient with their bodies as equipment swayed and a nurse secured an evacuation route. The hospital reported that all four operations were successfully completed. Normal outpatient services resumed on 5 August.
