Security personnel intercepted an individual who illegally entered the Malibu property of former Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff on Friday night. According to a spokesperson for Harris and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the individual was stopped before reaching the residence. Harris and Emhoff were not at the property during the incident.
Deputies responded to a call regarding a suspicious person around 10:30 p.m. and coordinated with private security. Julia Ann Tafoya, a spokesperson for the sheriff's department, stated that the individual was outside the property upon their arrival and left voluntarily after being warned by deputies. Police filed a trespassing report and will increase patrols as a precaution.
Harris does not currently have a Secret Service detail. While former vice presidents typically receive six months of protection, President Donald Trump revoked an extension previously granted to Harris by Joe Biden last summer. According to reports, her protection would have expired approximately two months ago regardless of that revocation.

Harris has recently considered her future political steps, including a potential 2028 presidential bid, after ruling out a run for governor of California.
