  • A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.

Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson, the senior equerry to the King and Queen, will leave his role supporting the royal couple at the end of the year. Thompson is also leaving the armed forces after more than 20 years of service to pursue a career in the private sector. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson stated that the King and Queen were aware of the plan and expressed gratitude for his support over the past seven years.

Thompson was commissioned into the Royal Regiment of Scotland in April 2006 and served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was appointed equerry to Charles and Camilla in December 2019 and became the King's equerry following the accession to the throne in September 2022. He was later promoted to senior equerry. During his career, he also commanded Balaklava Company and led military support for the late Queen's residence at Balmoral in 2018 and 2019.

While center leaning coverage focused on the professional transition, center left coverage highlighted Thompson's online popularity. This included mentions of an Instagram fan page and praise from Martha Stewart, who described him as charming and handsome after meeting him during a state visit to the United States in April.
