Seven arrested after newborn baby girl found dead from stab wounds in Sheffield

A newborn baby girl found at a house in the Wincobank area of Sheffield died from stab wounds, according to a forensic post-mortem examination. South Yorkshire Police discovered the infant at a property on Holywell Heights on Sunday morning after receiving reports of concern for her safety just before 6 a.m. Despite the efforts of police and paramedics, the baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

Seven people between the ages of 15 and 38 were arrested on suspicion of murder. Two suspects, aged 26 and 37, have been released on bail. Police obtained a warrant to extend the time in custody for the remaining five individuals as the investigation continues. Specialist search officers remain active in the Holywell Heights area.

A neighbor told the BBC that a family consisting of a man, a woman, and three teenagers moved into the house about eight months ago. The neighbor described them as quiet but noted they frequently had large gatherings. She added that she was not aware of any pregnant women living at the address and did not hear any noise before police arrived on Sunday.
