  • A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.

Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

At least seven Bangladeshi nationals were killed in a fire at the Hotel Shikha Inn in central Kolkata. The victims include a family of four from Kushtia: journalist Debashish Dutta, 39, his wife Afsana Sharmin, 27, their young son Swarnashish Dutta, and father in law Akram Ali. The family had traveled to India for medical treatment and was scheduled to return to Bangladesh on the day of the fire. Other identified victims include 37 year old Ahmed Babu from Savar, Dhaka, as well as Alimuzzaman Saju, 48, and Rebati Sarkar, 35, both residents of Kaliganj upazila in Satkhira. Saju and Sarkar had also traveled to India for medical treatment. The fire occurred in the New Market area, a location popular with Bangladeshi visitors due to its central location and budget hotels. According to the Bangladesh deputy high commission, five of the nine total victims were Bangladeshi nationals, though subsequent reports identified two additional citizens from Satkhira.
