- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

At least seven people were killed and several others injured after a fire broke out at a hotel in Tarapith, a temple town in the Birbhum district of West Bengal, early Monday morning, August 17, 2026. The blaze erupted between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. while most guests were asleep. Fire tenders brought the blaze under control, and the injured were taken to the Rampurhat Government Medical College and Hospital.
Police and officials reported that some of the victims were pilgrims visiting the town for the Tarapith Temple. According to the superintendent of police for Birbhum, Vidit Raj Bhundesh, 11 people were rescued and rushed to the hospital, resulting in seven deaths and four injuries. Hotel officials claimed the fire was caused by a short circuit.
Reports on the cause of the casualties and the building's condition varied. A center lean source highlighted that guests were trapped by a locked emergency exit. A center right source noted that some devotees escaped by climbing down a tree adjacent to the building. A center left source included a survivor's account of the panic and the difficulty of finding an escape route due to smoke.
