Preliminary data from shiptracker Kpler showed that five vessels were entering and one was exiting. The fleet included one intermediate tanker and one Panamax. Simultaneously, 25 commodity vessels transited the Bab el Mandeb strait. This figure is slightly below the 10 day average of around 27 ships. The vessels included one Very Large Crude Carrier, eight Aframax tankers, and two Suezmax tankers. Of the 25 ships, 11 were entering and 14 were exiting.
These maritime trends occur as the U.S. and Israeli conflict with Iran intensified. Tehran backed Houthis in Yemen launched strikes on several Saudi Arabian cities, while American forces hit multiple Iranian oil tankers and Iran struck a U.S. base in Jordan.
