Sigfrido Ranucci Denies Ties to Lavitola as Investigation Into Financial Affairs Expands

Former Report host Sigfrido Ranucci has publicly denied having any financial interests in the affairs of Valter Lavitola, stating that his relationship with Lavitola was based exclusively on friendship. Speaking at the Festa del Fatto in Marina di Pietrasanta, Ranucci claimed he is the target of an unprecedented information campaign designed to undermine his credibility and justify his removal. He further denied reports of a secret meeting with Lavitola following a dynamite attack targeting the journalist, noting that he was on tour for seven days during the period in question. Ranucci indicated that he expects to be questioned by magistrates again and believes it is appropriate to do so.

Simultaneously, the investigation into Lavitola has expanded following a ten hour interview with prosecutors by Lavitola's former partner, Natalia Potenza. Potenza provided bank documentation and fiscal records regarding Lavitola's business dealings, which reportedly span from Montenegro to Africa and include carbon credit investments. While she detailed Lavitola's use of fictitious ownership of assets and the management of the Cefalù bistrot, Potenza stated she had no knowledge of the dynamite attack against Ranucci.

Additional tension has emerged from Benjamin Chimutengo, a former business associate of Lavitola in Zimbabwe. Chimutengo expressed doubts about the flow of money he handled for Lavitola and accused Ranucci of abusing his position to help Lavitola. Lavitola's lawyer, Sergio Cola, has raised legal concerns regarding the admissibility of private emails Potenza may have provided to investigators.
