Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, also known as Irro, has expressed a willingness to contribute 2,000 soldiers to a Gaza peacekeeping force. While the president stated that the United States has not yet made such a request, he noted that the move could anger countries mediating in Gaza that oppose the split of the African state from Somalia. During a visit to Washington starting September 5, President Abdullahi sought to capitalize on the recognition of Somaliland's sovereignty by Israel in 2025, which was the first such recognition since the region declared independence in 1991. The president suggested that global attention is currently focused on Somaliland and its ports on the Gulf of Aden due to international trade issues and the conflict with Iran. A military base was established in the coastal city of Berbera at the end of 2025, which is utilized by Israeli and Emirati officers.
