Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Every source for this story reports from South Korea.

South Korea's consumer prices rose 2.8 percent in July compared to a year earlier, marking the first time in three months that inflation has fallen below the 3 percent mark. The slowdown was attributed to stabilized oil prices following a short lived ceasefire in the Middle East and government oil price caps. While oil product prices remained elevated with a 15.5 percent year on year increase, this was a deceleration from the 24.7 percent increase seen in June. Agricultural product prices fell 2.2 percent over the same period.

Core inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, rose 2.6 percent. Deputy Governor Lee Ji ho of the Bank of Korea stated that core inflation increased slightly due to higher prices for durable goods. The central bank expects inflation to edge up in August due to a base effect from large scale mobile carrier discount programs offered last year, as well as ongoing cost push pressures from Middle East tensions.

How each side framed it

Centre
The center outlet focused on the immediate urgency of the price increase and the role of high oil costs.
Centre-right
The center-right outlet framed the data as a slowdown in inflation and emphasized the central bank's forward looking projections.
