Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Every source for this story reports from South Korea.

South Korea's exports rose nearly 83 percent year on year during the first 10 days of September, reaching a record high for that period. According to data from the Korea Customs Service released Friday, outbound shipments totaled 35 billion US dollars between September 1 and September 10. This growth was primarily driven by a 270 percent surge in semiconductor shipments, which reached 16.5 billion US dollars amid a global artificial intelligence boom.

Other sectors also saw gains. Petroleum product shipments rose 57 percent to 1.87 billion US dollars, while exports of ships increased by 66.8 percent. Automobile exports grew 10 percent to 1.7 billion US dollars, and steel products rose 10.3 percent. By destination, exports to China doubled to 7.95 billion US dollars, and exports to the United States increased 137.5 percent to 7 billion US dollars.

Imports for the same period rose 20.7 percent to 24.6 billion US dollars, resulting in a trade surplus of 10.4 billion US dollars. From January 1 through Thursday, the country's total exports reached 728.5 billion US dollars, a 54.1 percent increase from the previous year. The trade surplus for 2026 has reached 212.9 billion US dollars so far.
