South Korea's chief trade negotiator, Yeo Han-koo, has been dismissed from his post effective Saturday. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy confirmed the removal, which was carried out via an administrative measure by the Ministry of Personnel Management. President Lee Jae Myung, who reappointed Yeo in May 2025, did not disclose a specific reason for the decision. The ministry stated that personnel decisions for political appointees fall under the authority and political judgment of the appointing authority.
