South Korea's customs agency announced Friday that it will speed up import clearance to facilitate the supply of goods before the Chuseok holiday. The Korea Customs Service (KCS) will operate special support teams around the clock from Monday through September 27 to ensure imports are promptly released into the market. Chuseok, which is the Korean equivalent of Thanksgiving, takes place from September 24 to September 27 this year.
To increase market transparency, the agency will disclose the import prices of 89 agricultural, livestock, and fishery products. The KCS also plans to increase inspections of country of origin labeling violations for popular imported food products. Additionally, the agency will shorten the processing time for exporter tariff refunds from two days to one day.
