South Korea will consult with Nepalese authorities to resume search and rescue operations for nine missing South Korean citizens. Yoon Chu-sok, the deputy chief of mission at the South Korean Embassy in Washington, arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday to lead the second contingent of the Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT).

The missing individuals include six employees of Doosan Enerbility Co. and three employees of Korea South-East Power Co. They disappeared on August 26 during massive floods and landslides in the Rasuwa District near the Nepal-Tibet border while working at a hydropower plant construction site.

This second contingent consists of eight members, which is a smaller group than the initial 44 member team. In addition to search efforts, the team is expected to work with Nepalese authorities and international organizations to plan for reconstruction and recovery. Yoon stated that the government recognizes the anguish of the families and will strive to accomplish the mission through a seamless transition from the first contingent.
