The South Korean foreign ministry announced on Friday that it is lifting special travel advisories for parts of Thailand, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Ethiopia because local health and security risks have subsided. For seven provinces near the Thailand Cambodia border, the ministry removed the special advisory, which previously urged citizens to cancel or postpone non essential trips, and revised the alert to Level 1, which calls for caution.

Special travel advisories are temporary measures for immediate and short term risks that remain in effect for up to 90 days. The ministry stated that the advisory for parts of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is being lifted as no active Ebola cases have been found. Similarly, restrictions for select areas in Azerbaijan and Turkey are being removed since no further drone or missile strikes have been reported amid Middle East conflicts.

However, special advisories for checkpoint areas bordering Laos and Myanmar will remain in place. The ministry noted that this is necessary to protect South Korean nationals from potential forced confinement and widespread job scams in that region.
