- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

South Korean international Hwang Hee-chan is returning to Germany after five seasons in England. FC Schalke 04 of the Bundesliga announced on Tuesday that they have signed Hwang on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers through June 30 of next year. According to German media reports, Schalke has the option to sign Hwang permanently for a transfer fee of 3 million euros, which is approximately 3.5 million US dollars.
Hwang, 30, previously played in Germany from 2018 to 2022 with Hamburger SV and RB Leipzig. During his five seasons with Wolverhampton, he recorded a career high of 12 goals in 29 matches during the 2023 to 2024 campaign. However, he scored only two goals in each of the following two seasons. Wolverhampton was relegated to the English Football League Championship after finishing last in the Premier League with 20 points.
Schalke recently earned promotion to the Bundesliga after winning the 2. Bundesliga title last season. Youri Mulder, the director of professional football at FC Schalke 04, stated that Hwang's experience in various leagues and on the international stage is a significant asset that bolsters the team's attacking options. Hwang expressed his excitement about joining the club, noting that he has studied their style of play and looks forward to playing in front of a sold out crowd.
