A startup called Operation Bluebird has changed the name of its new social media service from Twitter.now to Tweet.app. The change follows a decision by Judge Colm Connolly, who ruled that using the name Twitter would create too much consumer confusion and violate trademark laws. However, the court found that X, the company led by Elon Musk, has likely abandoned the term tweet and the bird logo, making those elements available for use.
Founded by former Twitter jurist Stephen Coates and associate Michael Peroff, the project aims to create a space focused on freedom of expression and user control over algorithms. The service is currently in a pre registration phase. According to data from TechCrunch, over 172,000 people have already signed up to reserve usernames. To limit early access and secure funding, the network currently requires a payment of 20 to 40 dollars for access.
