Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.

Supreme Court (STF) President Edson Fachin stated on Tuesday that the Brazilian Judiciary is up to the challenges of the contemporary moment and will fulfill its constitutional duties. Speaking at a National Council of Justice (CNJ) event for corregedores, Fachin emphasized the need for permanent dialogue and the modernization of the justice system. His remarks come during a period of instability within the court involving ministers Alexandre de Moraes and André Mendonça.

The conflict began when Minister Mendonça lifted the secrecy of a Federal Police report revealing messages between Minister Moraes and Daniel Vorcaro, the owner of Banco Master. In response, Minister Moraes requested an investigation into Mendonça for alleged illegalities regarding the Master case and investigations into INSS retirement fund diversions. Minister Mendonça subsequently removed the Director General of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, and the Director of Police Intelligence, Leandro Almada, claiming that intelligence reports had been used for the systematic monitoring of himself and Attorney General Jorge Messias.

To address the crisis, Fachin has met with the Minister of Justice and the Attorney General. He is considering taking over the conduct of the inquiries regarding Banco Master and the INSS from Minister Mendonça or potentially closing the fake news inquiry led by Minister Moraes. Both reports, originating from center right outlets, frame the situation as a crisis requiring institutional stability and dialogue.
