- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
A supermarket employee in Puebla, Mexico, saved a young girl from being run over on a busy street on Sunday, October 6. Security camera footage shows the child running toward traffic while a worker from Super Rey del Ahorro, who was operating a forklift, noticed the danger. The man and two other individuals ran to intercept the child. The employee reached the girl and rolled her to the side of the road, narrowly avoiding a car. He then returned the child safely to her guardians. The location and date of the footage were verified by Reuters using satellite imagery and metadata. While a center lean outlet described the event as a man saving a child, a center right outlet framed the incident as a heroic maneuver.
How each side framed it
- Centre
- The center lean outlet focused on a factual description of the events and the verification process of the footage.
- Centre-right
- The center right outlet used more emotive language, describing the worker's actions as a heroic maneuver.
