Russia's Supreme Court upheld a ruling barring the liberal Yabloko party from this year's State Duma elections on August 17. More than 80 young supporters were detained outside the court building during the appeal ruling. Those aged 18 or older were released within a few hours, while minors remained in custody until adult relatives arrived.
Legal consequences for participants have continued following the events of August 10 and August 17. The Nagatinsky District Court found Nabi Balabekova and Darya Bun'kova guilty of blocking roads during an unauthorized rally on August 10, sentencing them to 15 and 10 days of administrative arrest respectively. Additionally, the Tushinsky District Court sentenced 51 year old Vyacheslav Avdashev to 14 days of arrest for similar charges. Lawyers report that police are using social media videos to identify and contact individuals who attended the court proceedings. Yabloko leadership has stated they are ready to provide assistance to those detained.
