Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.

Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.

Swiss police arrested a 43 year old Swiss man on Monday in connection with a shooting attack that killed one person and injured five others during a rave in Aarau. The incident occurred during the early hours of Sunday at the Aarauer Rave, an annual techno music event held at the Schachen horse racing track near Zurich. The victim who died was a 22 year old Italian woman identified as Maria Spinelli. Five other people were injured, including a German national and four Swiss men between the ages of 24 and 31. Some of the injured were reported to be in serious condition.

Police officials stated that they are currently prioritizing the theory that the perpetrator acted alone. Investigators found evidence of two different calibers at the scene, suggesting the use of a pistol or submachine gun and an assault rifle. Shots were reportedly fired from two different locations: the rave grounds and a nearby caravan site. The shooting took place around 2:30 AM as attendees were preparing to leave the event.

Authorities initially considered three primary hypotheses for the attack: a terrorist act, a mass shooting, or a criminal act such as a settlement of accounts within a group. A major manhunt followed the shooting, involving armed officers, military helicopters, and coordination with German authorities.

Several reports noted the rarity of such firearm violence in Switzerland despite the country having one of the highest rates of civilian gun ownership in Europe. This is attributed to a national model of citizen militia where conscripts keep service weapons at home. Some sources highlighted that Switzerland tightened its gun laws in 2019 to restrict high capacity semi automatic weapons.
