- A hatched block means the outlet is affiliated with, or controlled by, a state.
Political lean describes where an outlet sits within the politics of its own country. It is never a position on a single global scale.
Political lean is comparable inside one country and not across them, which is why the bar groups by country first. Publicly funded broadcasters are not marked as state-linked.
The owner of each outlet is listed as a matter of record, not as a judgement about the outlet.
Switzerland and China have concluded negotiations to modernize and optimize their existing free trade agreement. The announcement was made on Thursday in Bern by Swiss President Guy Parmelin and Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao. The updated deal aims to eliminate a trade imbalance by increasing the proportion of Swiss exports entering China duty free from approximately 50 percent to 99.8 percent. According to the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, 77.5 percent of these exports will be duty free upon the agreement's entry into force, with the remainder following transition periods of five to ten years.
The agreement provides significant benefits for the Swiss watch industry, which will see exports become entirely duty free, as well as the machinery, pharmaceutical, and chemical sectors. Transition periods of ten years will apply to cheese and roasted coffee. Additionally, the deal includes provisions to improve market access for Swiss investors, simplify rules of origin, and establish a notification process for export licenses. Center right sources note that the agreement includes strengthened provisions regarding labor rights and environmental issues. The signing is expected to take place in 2026, following legal reviews and domestic approval processes.
Framing of the event varies by political lean. Center right coverage emphasizes the strategic economic advantages for Swiss exporters over European competitors and describes the deal as a sign of China's willingness to make genuine concessions. In contrast, center coverage provides a neutral report of the agreement without analyzing the strategic implications or specific industry benefits.
