Tarcísio de Freitas distances himself from Trump cap and affirms trust in electronic voting

São Paulo Governor and reelection candidate Tarcísio de Freitas stated on Tuesday that he would not wear a Donald Trump support cap today and expressed his confidence in electronic voting machines. During an interview with RedeTV! Freitas referred back to January 2025 when he wore a red Make America Great Again cap during Trump's inauguration, noting that the gesture was restricted to that specific context.

Freitas also addressed the impact of U.S. tariffs on Brazilian products. He denied that Eduardo Bolsonaro had the influence to determine these tariffs, calling such claims a narrative. He argued that the measures involve commercial interests and should be handled through diplomacy. To support affected sectors, the governor's administration has released accumulated ICMS credits. He credited paradiplomacy for securing exceptions for products such as aviation, paper, soluble coffee, and orange juice.

Regarding the electoral system, Freitas stated that there is significant evidence that electronic voting works and that he would not be a candidate if he did not trust the system. This comes after he was officialized as a candidate for reelection alongside presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro.
